Aus e-phrase Logo Design
11.12.2008

Aus e-phrase is an online service that provides information about australian slangs and the colloquial language being used around the country.
They have researched and organised the most commonly used expressions and the content will be available online for new migrants, business visitors and tourists.
I have worked with Blis Web Agency to design their website (currently in production). Having approved the web design, Aus e-phrase contacted me directly to design the logo for their new online service.
They wanted an aussie animal pictured in the logo, so I gave them a friendly koala illustration contained in a stylised speech box. The typeface used reinforces the idea of informality.
Here’s a sneak peek at some screenshots of their upcoming website:

Inspiration: Solar
23.09.2008
Solar is a beautiful, award-winning animated short created by Ian Wharton and Edward Shires.
The two graduate students from Cumbria Institute of the Arts worked on the project for seven months from February to June 2008. The result of their work is an inspiring example of art in motion.

Featured… Again!
07.09.2008
Two of the coolest css showcases have featured my portfolio!
CSSMania is the largest (and most updated) CSS showcase on the web and DesignShack is a UK based web design gallery that claims to “only offer the cream of great design”.
These are two of my favourite daily sources of inspiration and its great to be a tiny little part of their websites. Click on the images below to pay them a visit.

I had a great time creating some flash animations for Emotech’s new website (to be launched soon). Here’s a sneak peek at one of the animations:
50’s and 60’s Poster Collection on Flickr
16.06.2008
This is a great collection of 50’s and 60’s artwork found by Hamish Grant and compiled on his Flickr photo set. Fantastic source of inspiration for us designers.
Hamish describes the set as a “collection of over 200 35mm Kodachrome slides of travel and marketing posters from the 1950’s and 1960’s“.

Frontier Room
12.05.2008
Here’s a really cool restaurant website I came across recently while checking out Design Meltdown. Completely developed in Flash, the website uses humour to engage the user. Quite clever and it looks pretty good!

Interactive Designer at Emotech
14.04.2008
I have just joined Emotech to work as a full-time Interactive Designer. I’ll be working on creative concepts, interface design and flash animations.
I have already been working as a freelance designer for Emotech since 2007. Now that I finally arrived in Australia, the Creative Director Steve Barrett offered me the job and I took it.
Emotech is a design agency focusing on online branding. Click here to visit their website.
